Good Vibrations-What is Reiki Anyway?

STOP, just for a minute. Close your eyes and feel the breath moving in and out of your body. I’m serious! Stop reading now and just breathe!

How do you know you are alive? What are your senses telling you? Do you feel the air on your skin, your butt on your seat, last night’s pizza gurgling in your intestines? Can you smell your neighbor’s cooking, hear the wind or traffic outside? How do you KNOW you’re alive and WHAT is it that makes you live?

The short answer is Chi, Ki, Qi, Holy Spirit, Soul, Source, God- whatever name you want to give it- its Life Force, a quasi ineffable energy that flows through, creates and sustains the entire universe, including you.

Reiki is a practice that focuses Chi.

Who cares, right?

Well, if you are experiencing some dis-ease or you are wanting to create something new and improved in your experience (the TOP reasons are more wealth, business growth, new love, improved relationships, improved health), focusing Energy, Intention and Attention toward your desire will allow it to manifest more quickly and easily.

You don’t have to study any particular method to work with energy and get it to work for you. Reiki just happens to be an easily accessible system to train your sensitivity to energy flow and helps you to focus it more specifically.

In fact, you don’t really NEED anyone outside of yourself to perform energy treatments on you or on your behalf. You can do it right now by conjuring a memory or object or experience that feels good. Now, instead of focusing on the THING that makes you feel good, just focus on FEELING GOOD. Hold that good vibe for as long as you can without distraction- you’re tapping into your Chi and engaging the Law of Attraction (LOA).

Now, there is this thing that happens with Energy and Intention that can amplify it. Its like, hitting a critical mass. When more than one person is focused on, observing a possibility, the Energy is amplified exponentially and the Possibilities become Probabilities. This is the secret to how energy healing works.

Reiki, Qi Gong and many other energy modalities are powerful and palpable because of the way they are taught and practiced. In Reiki, you are given keys, symbols that tap into specific energy frequencies. The reason (I believe) these keys hold power is because thousands of people have focused on them and used them and THAT has created a W wave pattern in the Zero Point Field- the origin of all- God- Source- the Higgs Field- the Origin that Plato talks about where all of the “shadows” (the physical world) we interact with originate- the “place” where all Archetypal engrams and energies originate. Every time a key is activated, focused upon, it taps into that creative, life giving energy of the Universe.

So, if you want to experience energy work for yourself, get inspiration, develop your personal growth and enhance your lifestyle, you can practice just being aware of Energy and how it flows or is blocked or, you can sign up for a distance treatment and get tuned up!

Why Denver? Top 5 Things to do when you visit

Being a transplant, like 80% of Denverites, I love calling this city home and want to share its uniqueness with everyone who visits. Let me tell you, it was hard to narrow down the list of what to share but, here’s what I came up with.

beer
5.) Beer anyone? Colorado has the highest percentage of microbreweries in the country and has a thriving craft beer culture. Finding your favorite local brewery to support is half the fun. Check out the Denver Post blog First Drafts to get your feet wet.

smokey rally
4.) Get your Mile High on! Closer than Amsterdam- Mary Jane is now legal in Denver! Start your night out right or wake and bake your day, by grabbing some edibles from one of Denver’s fine recreational dispensaries. Check out Weedmaps to find the one closest to you.

bcycle
3.) Eco Friendly transportation; say what? For just a few dollars you can rent a bike for an hour or a day in and around Downtown from the city’s bike kiosks. You can return the bike to any kiosk and not have to worry about getting it back to where you originally rented it. Check out Denver B Cycle to learn more. It’s a perfect way to experience the paved trail along the North Platt River that cuts along the edge of Downtown or go window shopping in the Cherry Creek Shopping District and not have to worry about parking.

2.) Wild West History and Culture: Take your pick of places to visit- the Gold gilded capital building, Molly Brown House, History Museum, the Denver Art Museum, Santa Fe Arts District, Broadway shows at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Elitch’s, Lakeside Amusement Park, The Brown Palace Hotel, funky neighborhoods like Capitol Hill and South Pearl Street, SOCO (South of Colfax) with irreverent bars like The Church (yes, it was a church converted into a hard core Gothic Bar and dance club), the Denver Botanic Gardens, Confluence Park, Cheesman Park, Golden Gate Open Space, Mount Falcon for city views, Idaho Springs to soak in mountain hot springs, the small venues on Colfax like the Ogden and the Bluebird where bands like The Lumineers and The Fray got their start… I could go on!

thumbs up
Drum roll please! Finally, THE reason to visit Denver:
1.) The people. Friendly, outrageous, lovingly gorgeous, culturally diverse, helpful- we got the cream of the crop and we love our city!
